I was admitted to Medway in April 2017 for emergency surgery to my Gall Bladder. I felt generally the team were exceptional, especially the ward sister who ensures that she takes a turn in all duties; including the bathing of her patients.
I feel the only downside, was communication between the doctors rounds and staff on the ward. This was evident when I was unable to access high end pain relief the night before my surgery; which I had already been written up and then a house doctor had put on my notes that I was allergic to the substance; this was not true and resulted in added discomfort for me.
I also noticed that doctors told elderly patients about being able to resume their diet whilst on their rounds. However, this took time to filter to the ward staff and some of the elderly patients would have missed out on beverages and meals had I not alerted the staff to double check that these patients were no longer nil by mouth.
I feel my surgery went exceedingly well as it was a far more complex operation than originally thought. The after care was wonderful and I feel my agenda was considered at all times. Well done.
As a healthcare professional, you don't always expect to be ill yourself, however accidents happen, and when they do you expect to be looked after.
When i visited outpatient at Medway, the staff were professional, and the area was clean and tidy, the staff worked in organised manner so the clinic times were kept to a minimal limit.
My time was only delayed my a few minutes.
My consultant was professional and a nurse was available to chaperone if required
( this was not required at my appointment as i had someone).
It worked for me thanks
Although a busy hospital, Professor Singh showed the same care and qualities as he did at Kims hospital. I am convinced that my surgery would have received the same high standard of care as it did at Kims. This is due to Professor Singh and his skills and expertise not the Hospital.
I was treated in 2010 for c diff and a flare up of Crohn’s Disease. All staff looking after me were amazing throughout my whole month there. I ended up having emergency surgery on Xmas eve and the surgeon on call was fantastic. After care in the trafalgar ward (I think it was called that?!) was unbelievable. Nurses at this hospital are amazing and deserve to be recognised for how much they’ve done to help people like me. Thank you.
Entirely looked after
Medway was great but the cleaning routine isn't a thorough as it used to be only thing that could be improved upon.
I am happy with the care and attitude etc and have no complain except perhaps that it would be nice to see more nursing care and less admin staff.
I went for fertility treatment the consultant I saw was not companionate or helpful in any way and just going through the role . Prescribed medication for something i didn't have , I eventually went to Pembury hospital for a second option .
Very different result there .
Please be wary if you are seeing this consultant in Medway , she can ruin your chances of conceiving if you take her advice , thank god I didn't and got a second chance from great proffesionals at pembury hospital
I personaly think i was treated very well , and i didn't wait to long to see the Dr : thank you .
